Nicole Orsua joins Travel Nevada as Chief Industry Development Officer

CARSON CITY, NV – Travel Nevada announces the hire of Nicole Orsua as Chief Industry Development Officer, tasked with overseeing Travel Nevada’s industry development team.

Orsua comes to Travel Nevada with a vast knowledge of tourism from both the private and public sectors having worked for hotels, tourism attractions, tour guide companies, and in local government. Her experience comes with a global perspective as Orsua has worked in urban, regional, and rural locations in both the United States and Australia.

“Industry and destination development are at the forefront of Travel Nevada’s mission to enhance the quality of life for all Nevadans. Nicole’s global perspective makes her a great addition to oversee and ensure Travel Nevada is engaged in market development and industry programs to ensure that best-in-the field programming is available to Nevada’s tourism partners,” said Brenda Scolari, Director, Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs (DTCA).

Orsua has lifelong ties to the Reno-Tahoe area. Growing up in the Bay Area, Lake Tahoe was a bi-annual family vacation spot, as were visits to Fallon, Nevada. Before making northern Nevada her permanent home, Orsua had been living, working, and studying in Australia. While living in Melbourne, she earned a master’s degree in International Sustainable Tourism Management before relocating to Northwest Tasmania where she oversaw tourism, economic, and community development for two rural municipalities.

In her new position with Travel Nevada, Orsua will bring her passion for rural tourism, destination development, and tourism and hospitality sales knowledge to the team, while supporting them in their endeavors to grow tourism opportunities in rural Nevada and promote the state to domestic and global travel partners.
