Nevada is the Place to See
Visitation to Nevada is continuing to climb, increasing by 2.6 percent in 2014 over the previous year. In 2014, Nevada welcomed 53.4 million visitors to the state. Our state parks welcomed 26.1 million visitors, a 7.2 percent increase over the previous year. The overall travel spending in Nevada for 2014 hit a record $62.2 billion.
What does this mean to each and every one of us? Tourism employed 474,000 Nevadans in 2014, a figure that has continued to rise every year since the recession. The more than 53 million visitors last year contributed $3 billion in state and local tax revenue, which breaks down to $2,820 per Nevada household. That means that every Nevadan is directly affected by the thriving tourism industry.
