Staff changes

Travel Nevada welcomed two new staff members in the last quarter of 2018, and bid farewell to two longstanding, key members of the team.

Tracie Barnthouse in October joined Travel Nevada as a public relations specialist focusing on stakeholder engagement, international media relations and social media listening. She joins from Atlantis Casino Resort Spa, where she spent five years as the public relations and social media manager. Prior to that, she worked internationally in both Europe and Asia, assisting the United States Navy with public affairs and community outreach. Contact her at [email protected].

Rachel Wright also joined the team in October as social media specialist. A native Nevadan, Rachel brings almost a decade of experience to Travel Nevada. She spent five years working in sports public relations before brief forays into nonprofit and agency life, and most recently served as the communications specialist for Peppermill Resort Spa Casino and its portfolio of properties. As social media specialist, Rachel will focus on engaging with online communities and creating digital content that pushes only-in-Nevada experiences to the forefront of fans’ minds. She reports to the chief marketing officer. Contact Rachel at [email protected].

Goodbyes
Travel Nevada wishes a fond farewell to Dave Peterson, interim director of the Nevada Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs (NDTCA); and Angela Froelich, public relations assistant for the Nevada Division of Tourism (Travel Nevada). Both were valued members of the Travel Nevada team with long tenures at the agency.

Dave left in mid-December to join the Carson City Culture and Tourism Authority as its new executive director. In his absence, Brenda Nebesky, NDTCA deputy director, will be handling some of his duties. A new NDTCA director will be named by the governor after a search is conducted by the Nevada Commission on Tourism.

Angela retired at the end of December. A key member of the public relations team, Angela was indispensable to Travel Nevada’s public relations efforts, providing essential administrative functions. We wish both Angela and Dave the best in their new ventures.
