Nevada celebrates independence with cannons, ghost towns and more

There is nowhere better to commemorate Independence Day than the patriotic Battle Born state or one of its old towns where the West was won. Nevada bleeds red, white and blue for the holiday, embracing its wild western roots.

Virginia City Fourth of July Celebration

Celebrate Independence Day in one of Nevada’s most iconic western mining towns, Virginia City. Watch the area’s longest fireworks display this Fourth of July and participate in the entirety of Virginia City Independence Day celebrations with the traditional parade, a raffle and auction, and the Comstock Cowboys Second Amendment Concert. Genoa July 4th Chicken Barbeque
The oldest town in Nevada hosts some high country traditions that draw visitors from around the world. Attractions include the firing of live cannons, a petting zoo, and several musical performances and entertainment acts throughout the day. Click here for details. Red, White, and Tahoe Blue
Attend one of the best fireworks shows in the country this Fourth of July in beautiful Lake Tahoe. Along with beach access, the Reno Philharmonic Orchestra is performing on Village Green. There are more than 20 events in the Incline Village and Crystal Bay area, including a parade, concerts, a veterans tribute, rubber duck races, and several kids’ activities. Honor the founding of the United States this Fourth of July in Henderson. There will be a spectacular fireworks show, live entertainment, and local high school clubs selling hot dogs, hamburgers, snow cones and ice cream with all proceeds helping the local schools. Star Spangled Sparks
John Ascuaga’s Nugget presents its 16th annual Star Spangled Sparks fireworks show this Independence Day. Star Spangled Sparks will have the biggest fireworks display in the Northern Nevada area.
