Governor Lombardo Presents Proclamation Declaring October as “Get a Little Out There” Month in Nevada
Visitors, residents encouraged to engage in a month-long celebration of Silver State exploration
CARSON CITY, NV – In honor of the rich and diverse experiences that the state of Nevada has to offer visitors and Nevadans alike, Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo has presented a proclamation declaring October as “Get a Little Out There” Month, inspired by Travel Nevada’s brand mantra. Concluding with Nevada Day – an annual celebration marking the state’s admission to the Union on October 31, 1864 – on the last Friday of October, the proclamation emphasizes the importance of honoring Nevada’s history, heritage and the pioneering spirit that shaped the Silver State. “Get a Little Out There” Month invites travelers to see the state in a new light – one that will surprise, challenge, delight, and change them through Nevada’s beautifully uncommon backyard and curious character.
“Tourism remains a key driver of Nevada’s economy and plays a major role in enhancing the quality of life for all Nevadans,” said Lombardo. “This official proclamation serves to reinforce and celebrate the Silver State as a destination brimming with extraordinary experiences. We encourage all travelers to discover the multiple facets of the Silver State that they have yet to explore.”
With over 60 million acres of publicly-held lands brimming with biodiversity and beauty, combined with deep-rooted culture and history around every corner, Nevada welcomes all to discover the hidden gems and extraordinary experiences that make it such a unique destination. From untouched and uncrowded natural spaces, outdoor recreation and astrotourism to historic towns, cultural communities and a multitude of unique art scenes, the Silver State is perfectly poised to surprise and delight visitors looking for an unusually captivating destination that embraces the freedom to explore, with the space to simply be.
“Travel Nevada’s mission is to showcase the true spirit of our state’s passion, pride, land and people to the world,” said Rafael Villanueva, chief executive officer at Travel Nevada. “We are so grateful to Governor Lombardo for honoring the state’s tourism industry with this proclamation, which reinforces the endless array of transformative travel experiences in Nevada and encourages adventure and exploration beyond the usual paths. This is where you’ll discover some of the most diverse landscapes, exhilarating outdoor activities, a rich history and hidden treasures. We invite everyone to do what we in Nevada do and Get a Little Out There.”
