Bill Hornbuckle Receives Inaugural Battle Born Legacy Award at Governor’s Conference on Tourism

LAS VEGAS, NV  – The Nevada Division of Tourism (Travel Nevada) proudly awarded Bill Hornbuckle, CEO of MGM Resorts International, the inaugural Battle Born Legacy Award during the Governor’s Conference on Tourism on October 30 at the Rio Hotel & Casino. This prestigious award recognizes exemplary leadership within the hospitality industry. 

Lt. Governor Stavros Anthony and Travel Nevada’s CEO Rafael Villanueva presented Hornbuckle with his award during the ceremony and expressed their admiration for Bill’s contributions to the Silver State. “It was a great privilege to honor Bill for his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to Nevada’s tourism and hospitality industry,” said Villanueva. “Travel Nevada’s mission is to enhance the quality of life for all Nevadans, and Bill exemplifies the exceptional leadership we strive to celebrate.” 

Hornbuckle, who began his career in Las Vegas as a room attendant and busboy, has built an impressive legacy in the hospitality sector. Over his more than two decades at MGM Resorts, he has held various senior leadership roles, significantly influencing the company’s domestic and international growth strategies. His leadership has not only shaped MGM Resorts but has also been pivotal in expanding Las Vegas’ reputation as a premier entertainment destination. 

In addition to his role at MGM, Hornbuckle has been instrumental in the development of major sports franchises in the city, including the Vegas Golden Knights, the Raiders, and the Aces. His influence extends to the broader tourism landscape, where he serves on the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Travel and Tourism Advisory Board, offering guidance on industry policies and emerging trends. 

The Governor’s Conference on Tourism serves as a vital platform for travel professionals, providing opportunities to connect and share insights. The event was a resounding success, highlighting the importance of collaboration within Nevada’s tourism sector.
